India with a population of 1.4 billion and workforce of 470 million plus is not easy for Person with Disabilities to find job.
According to census 2022, India has 2.68 crore people with disabilities. But even conservative global estimates by the world bank and the world health organization put in upwards of 7 crore (the thumb rule is 10% of any country’s population is Person with Disabilities) . The governmental Nudge for Person with Disabilities as follows
- The Disability law passed late last year could help minimize discrimination against PwDs and ensure them equality of opportunity.
- Accessible India campaign will rate companies on an accessibility index.
- Employers’ share of PF and ESI contribution is reimbursed by the government for workers with disabilities.
- 3% of Government jobs have been reserved for differently- abled.
911 recruit pledges to provide jobs for the differently- abled individuals through tie-up with NGOs , Trainers and Corporates.
